Why are plants classified as autotrophic and animals as genetic?

First, remember which organisms are called autotrophs and which are called heterotrophs. Autotrophs are those organisms that are able to create organic matter for their life on their own. They use inorganic substances for this and, using complex biochemical processes, synthesize organic compounds. Plants are autotrophs because they have photosynthesis. Animals cannot synthesize these substances themselves, so they feed on autotrophs. This method of obtaining organic substances is called heterotrophic.
