Why are reptiles cold-blooded

Reptiles have a three-chambered heart with an incomplete septum. Their body temperature is unstable, depends on the ambient temperature, and the metabolism is much slower than that of warm-blooded animals. This means that as a consequence of this, reptiles are called cold-blooded.
