Why are there fewer deserts in South America than in Africa?

Although South America is located at approximately equal geographic latitudes with Africa, the equator crosses both the first and second continents, besides, both have a rather hot climate, but South America is more humid and more precipitous. Because of this, the area of evergreen forests and deep rivers in South America is larger. This happens because there are no high mountains in Africa, which, like the Andes in South America, could stop wet winds (trade winds). In Africa, the trade winds dried up and turned into deserts.
