Why are there no permanent glaciers in the Ukrainian Carpathians?

There are no permanent glaciers in the Ukrainian Carpathians because the mountains have an average height and do not reach the level of the snow line, on which the glaciological process takes place, that is, the formation of ice and snow. The highest mountain in the Ukrainian Carpathians, Hoverla, has a height of 2061 meters. But in the distant past there were glaciers in the Ukrainian Carpathians. After the melting of permanent glaciers many thousands of years ago, shallow relict lakes remained in Transcarpathia, located at an altitude of 1400 – 1800 meters. They adorn the picturesque landscape of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
