Why are written historical sources most valuable to historians?

Because they contain reliable information. What is written on paper or material evidence cannot be denied. At the same time, oral sources suffer great distortions, as they are passed from mouth to mouth by many generations. Because of this, many facts are lost, only individual images remain, which often have a fantastic form. Thus, scientists are trying to obtain written or physical evidence in order to have a solid foundation for building their theory.
