Why can’t a crocodile be taught to follow commands that a dog understands?

A dog is a domesticated animal, it has a distant ancestor – a wolf, which has adapted to life around people. The crocodile is the heir of the ancient reptiles, life and work in a pack is not peculiar to him, he did not depend on people, and the age of the ancestors of these animals is older than wolves. Perhaps, if man domesticated the ancestors of the crocodile, now our generation would be able to play with tame crocodiles that would execute our commands.
