Why could only a close-knit human collective succeed in hunting large animals?

As you know, primitive people were engaged in hunting. At first they hunted small animals, then they became larger ones. This was the first step towards tribalism. So people began to hunt collectively, because it was impossible to defeat the beast alone. It was necessary to organize, drive the beast, distribute responsibilities among all in order to defeat and kill their prey. So there was an understanding that collectively you can achieve much more success than alone.
