Why did Alexander the Great refuse to go to the Ganges valley?

Alexander really wanted to walk to the east coast of India. Ambition spurred him on. He did not lose the battle and considered himself invincible. The Egyptians extolled him. Another reason for the campaign was delusion. The Greeks did not imagine the size of India and believed that the ocean was much closer. The beginning of the campaign was going pretty well. But advancing with battles deep into India, Macedonian lost soldiers in battles. Nature and relief were clearly not in the hands of the commander. The army did not receive proper rations. Diseases that are characteristic of this area began. Many died from snake bites. The remaining soldiers refused to go further. Alexander was forced to abandon his plans and ordered to return.
