Why did Athens and Sparta often quarrel?

Athens and Sparta in ancient Greece were among the most powerful and influential cities. This was also the reason for their confrontation, as each of these policies sought to seize dominance in Greece. There was always some tension between them, which often turned into a military conflict. One such example was the Peloponnesian War, which took place between 431 and 404 BC. Here Sparta was able to defeat her opponent.
