Why did France forgive everything to Napoleon Bonaparte?

This is due to the fact that Napoleon was able to elevate France, make it a powerful state. He was a good politician and government administrator. Of course, when there were mistakes, the French, in spite of them, forgave Napoleon. However, even that patience came to an end. When Napoleon was defeated in Russia, where hundreds of thousands of soldiers died, the French themselves took it negatively.
