Why did images of large animals predominate in the drawings of ancient artists?

Ancient artists painted large animals on the walls of caves because these wild animals played a big role in their lives. In fact, these were the animals they hunted. From them they received food, warm skins and bones, which often served as household items or building materials (if we are talking about the bones of a mammoth, huts were built from its skins and bones).
