Why did Karl 1 try to arrest the opposition leaders?

Charles 1 strove for sole power, which is why he abolished Parliament (which was the main legislative body of England) in the late twenties of the seventeenth century and ruled himself for more than ten years. But he had to convene a new parliament in 1640, called the “Long Parliament”, because he had been active for 13 years. The long parliament condemned the actions of the monarch and acted contrary to the interests of Charles the First. That is why, already at the beginning of 1642, Charles tried to arrest five leaders of the opposition parliament. This would allow him to take control of parliament or even abolish it again.
