Why did Karl get the nickname “The Great”?

Charlemagne did not receive such a nickname by accident. You can start with the fact that in his life there were several successful campaigns through the Alps and Pyrenees, in which he reached the banks of the Elbe, Danube and Evro rivers, and this led to an increase in the state of the Franks. He also received a fairly large growth – 172, which is significantly higher than his grandfather and father. And thanks to his efforts, the Frankish state was founded. These are the main reasons why he is considered Great.
