Why did Roosevelt establish diplomatic relations with the USSR?

The main reason for recognizing the USSR and establishing diplomatic relations with it was the economic reason. US businessmen have long been interested in the Soviet market. The economic crisis spurred the interest. Exports of American products to European countries fell significantly. At the same time, the USSR significantly increased its purchases of products on the foreign market. Economists cite the numbers: 50-70 percent of US sales came to the Soviet Union. However, Mr. Hoover and his administration obstructed this process. American business was losing income, and the USSR was not getting the products it needed.
