Why did the Athenians consider democracy to be the best government?

In Athens, democracy was considered the best form of government, because with its help it was the easiest way to avoid uprisings, riots in society. In a democracy, the opinion of all people is taken into account, decisions are made on the basis of how the majority will vote. In Athens, the entire male population had the right to vote: men were obliged to participate in the People’s Assembly, which decided state issues. The women did not have the right to vote, but they still cultivated patriotic feelings.
