Why did the church forbid knightly tournaments?

One of the occupations of medieval knights is knightly tournaments. They are created so that knights can test their courage and practice their military skills. Such battles were often fatal. Due to frequent deaths in tournaments, the Catholic Church urged people not to compete in this uniform. Such spectacular battles were not humane. The church was against death at the hands of compatriots. In addition, in this way, the number of military people able to defend the state was reduced.
