Why did the church support the government, and the government supported the church?

The church supported the government, since it poured money into it – donations. On the other hand, since the church had many followers – believers, it was beneficial for the authorities to have the support of the church. That is, the church blessed the rule of kings. If the church was against the king, then this could serve as a reason for the growth of discontent and even the uprising of believers against the unjust king. For this reason, it was important for the king and the church to coexist. Nevertheless, conflicts often occurred between them.
