Why did the class amphibians (Amphibians) get this name?

Amphibians got this name because of some features of the body structure and way of life. It is not difficult to guess that these organisms can live both on land and in water. For this they have respiratory organs, limbs for movement on land, methods of protection from dangers, as well as organs for obtaining food. But amphibians, which are adapted to life on land, cannot live without water. Therefore, they live next to water bodies, where they periodically return due to some natural conditions.
