Why did the development of Latin America and the United States take different paths?

At the very beginning, the development of the United States and the states of Latin America followed different paths. So, for example, the United States developed more along the industrial path, while the Latin states developed more as an agrarian country. The only exception was Chile, which rapidly developed industrially due to its natural resources. It is also worth noting that the Latin states were colonially dependent on the British Empire for a long period of time, and the American colonies quickly emerged from dependence and began to develop independently.
