Why did the Egyptians revered elephants like the Indians?

In Egypt, elephants were used during the construction of the great pyramids. However, only Indian elephants are capable of training, not African ones in any way – they cannot be tamed.

Ancient peoples idolized animals. Elephants were especially honored as they symbolized wisdom, strength and power. Elephants are very intelligent animals, they help each other, and if someone from the group is injured, they help them to get up.

Elephants are also a symbol of power – after all, not everyone could afford such an animal and home decorations made of tusks.
