Why did the first green plants appear?

Protoplasm is the name for living matter that is found in plants and animals. Thick shells appeared in protoplasm particles, and they began to concentrate in one place. They developed a green substance – chlorophyll – which allowed them to receive nutrition from substances in the air, water and soil. These original green plants consisted of one cell, but later they formed groups of cells. Since they were not protected from drying out, they had to stay in the water.
