Why did the French people support the establishment of Napoleon’s empire?

At the time, Napoleon was very popular. He enjoyed tremendous support among the people. In this connection, this state of affairs allowed him to easily return France to the monarchy, and to become an emperor himself. After that, in 1805, the Napoleonic Wars began, which covered the whole of Europe. Ultimately, Napoleon Bonaparte was able to become the ruler of almost all of Europe, but, unfortunately, he was soon defeated.
