Why did the Greeks like to paint the hull of the ship, its sails and rigging blue?

In the sea, everything is perfectly visible for many kilometers into the distance. Ships intended for sea voyages were painted in the color of the sea and sky – blue, for camouflage, because such coloring lowered the possible enemy, to notice the ship from afar.
