Why did the modern great apes not turn into humans in the process of historical development?

The classic question is, why didn’t monkeys evolve into humans? After all, our ancestors are the same, so why would they deign to climb trees, and not declare Brodsky? The thing is that evolution is a long, very very long process, which takes not a hundred, not a thousand, but whole millions of years, plus it never stops, and the paths of each organism on the roads of evolution are unique. We once chose one path and got a successful civilized society, but they were different, longer, which naturally did not lead them to the same as us.
