Why did the Mongols manage to seize the Russian lands?

The Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus took place in the middle of the 13th century from 1237 to 1241. During this campaign of Batu Khan, the lands of north-eastern and south-western Russia were conquered. The reason for the fall of the Russian principalities was their feudal fragmentation, decentralization, the absence of a single center and an army that was able to withstand the Mongol military power.
