Why did the policy of the Catholic Church arouse particular indignation in Germany?

The policy of the Catholic Church was aimed at submission and unification. In Germany, one of the first countries began to protest against the oppression of the church on the people. The Protestants rebelled against the order of the Catholic Church, because in the first place she demanded too high a tax – tithe. She also sold indulgences – forgiveness from God that only rich people could afford. Church order caused outrage among civilians. They also fought against the ecclesiastical court – the Inquisition.
