Why did the Schism of the Christian Church take place in 1054?

Even before 1054, relations between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox were very tense.

The situation escalated in 1053, when the Catholic faith replaced Orthodoxy in southern Italy, which the Patriarch of Constantinople considered “his” territory. In response to this, Latin churches were closed in Constantinople.

This has led to an exacerbation of controversy over the interpretation of Scripture and the conduct of the ceremonies.

The result of this was the mutual anathema of the Patriarch of Constantinople and the Pope.
