Why do athletes breathe faster and muscle pain during intense training?

1). For the muscles to work, ATP energy is needed, which is formed as a result of oxygen oxidation of glucose. Therefore, breathing becomes more frequent, increasing gas exchange;
2). If oxygen is not sufficient for oxidation, glycolysis (anoxic oxidation) occurs, which can form lactic acid as a by-product. It also causes muscle pain.
