Why do clothes and things smell of smoke in a room where people smoke?

All substances are characterized by the phenomenon of diffusion.

Diffusion is the phenomenon of the penetration of molecules of one substance into the intermolecular space of another substance, as a result of the thermal motion of molecules.

Smoke molecules, as a result of chaotic movement, penetrate between the molecules of the material from which the clothes are made. These molecules from clothes begin to penetrate between air molecules, and we smell smoke.
