Why do conifers grow in the taiga?

The temperature in the taiga is quite low and not every plant is able to withstand it. In deciduous plants, the foliage contains a lot of moisture, which at low temperatures will freeze and the tree will die. Conifers, with the help of their modified leaves, are able to retain moisture and high temperatures without any threat to the plant. Also, conifers do not need a lot of sunlight and heat, they are able to stay for a long time without watering and in the cold. Conifers are more resistant to strong winds. Therefore, in the taiga, they have a much higher advantage than deciduous plants.
