Why do ferns, being spore plants, like mosses, become large in size, in contrast to them?

Ferns grow larger than mosses because they have large, highly dissected leaves – fronds. A feature of the leaves is the long-term growth of the top, as a result of which the young leaf is rolled up by a snail and gradually unwinds.
