Why do only conifers grow in the taiga?

In the taiga, mostly only conifers grow, since they are more adapted to the difficult conditions of the local climate. Most of the year the weather is cold, the winters are snowy and long, and the summers are short, wet and cool. Due to the absence of deciduous trees and, accordingly, humus, the soils are rather poor in nutrients. In addition, the soils are often swampy due to frequent rainfall. However, even in such conditions, conifers feel good. The most adapted tree is larch.
