Why do scientists call the reformation a revolution?

Revolution is not just a political term. A revolution is a revolution in thinking, in the consciousness of a person. Thus, the period of the Reformation became for people a kind of upheaval in consciousness that came as a result of a deep crisis in which the Catholic Church was at that time. The center of thought has shifted somewhat from the purely divine to the mundane. People began to think more about themselves, and it was this that became a revolution in their thinking.
