Why do the cells of living organisms need the respiration process?

All living cells need oxygen. Oxygen is an important substance that can make up 60 to 75% of a cell’s chemistry. Also, oxygen must be used to oxidize organic matter during energy metabolism. Oxygen is involved in many processes of the cell’s life. If for some reason the supply of oxygen to the cell has stopped, the cell dies in a few minutes. This is called hypoxia. Lack of oxygen is more dangerous than lack of water or food.
