Why do the inhabitants of the north prefer meat food, and the southern regions – more vegetable?

The answer lies in the different calorie content of plant and animal foods.

In the north, conditions are less favorable due to lower temperatures, so the body spends more energy on warming and keeping warm. Energy in the form of ATP is obtained from food, and more energy is released when fats and proteins, which are abundant in animal food, are broken down.

In the south, on the other hand, the temperature of the environment is higher, the body spends much less energy on warming, therefore plant food is preferable. In addition, it contains more fluid, which is necessary with constant loss of water in the form of sweat.
