Why do the lower branches of a pine in the forest die off, while in a spruce they are alive and covered with needles?

In a pine forest it is light even on a cloudy day, and in a spruce forest it is gloomy even when the bright sun is shining. The fact is that pine is a light-loving tree, so the lower branches do not have enough sun and they gradually die off, creating a crown in the form of a cap only at the top of the tree. Spruce is a shade-tolerant breed and, therefore, its lower branches are lively and green.
