Why doesn’t its temperature change when a solid melts?

When a solid is heated, its temperature increases, and the associated kinetic energy of particle motion. However, upon reaching a certain threshold – the melting point, further energy input from heating goes not to increase the temperature, but to rupture the crystal lattice, since the body passes from a solid state to a liquid state. After the body has completely melted, the temperature will rise again from heating.
