Why doesn’t pure water conduct electricity?

Electricity only flows when there is a flow of electrons or ions present in the medium. When you run electricity in clear water, oxygen doesn’t have any d-orbitals or f-orbitals that electrons can pass through. There is no electrolytic substance in pure water, therefore ions are not present in pure water. Thus, electricity cannot pass through clean water. Water cannot dissociate into OH- and H + when electricity is passed through clean water. Ions are additional ions created by impurities that are acidic and basic in nature.
