Why, in your opinion, did classicism and realism compete with each other?

Realism and classicism are two mutually exclusive directions, so it was not surprising that they were actively competing. In classicism, a certain severity and worship of the canons manifested itself, while realism, on the contrary, tried to portray the real world as it really is. These two directions simply could not but compete with each other.
One of the components of a person's success in our time is receiving modern high-quality education, mastering the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for life in society. A person today needs to study almost all his life, mastering everything new and new, acquiring the necessary professional qualities.
