Why is Africa the hottest continent?

The high annual temperature in Africa is due to two factors: the location of the continent and its relief. Most of the mainland lies at the equator and in the tropics, then warm winds blow from the sea to the mainland all year round. During half of the year they carry a lot of moisture with them, and in the second half they dry the earth. The absence of high mountains on the mainland makes it possible for these winds to pass through all of Africa without barriers. Therefore, Africa is hotter than South America, although they are at the same latitudes.
