Why is hydrogen considered an environmentally friendly fuel?

Hydrogen is considered an environmentally friendly fuel because power comes from a conversion between hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2), which produces dihydroxy oxide (H2O), more commonly known as water. It is completely harmless to the environment.

The problem is the hydrogen source. It can be produced from water, but the electricity required for this is rarely produced in an environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, while hydrogen and oxygen react with each other is not harmful to the environment, it is possible that H2 is formed.
