Why is metabolism considered the most important process of cell life?

Thanks to the metabolism, all other vital processes of the cell are possible. When an autotrophic cell absorbs certain inorganic substances, it synthesizes organic substances from them. They provide energy and material for the creation of new cell structures and reproduction. The heterotrophic cell uses ready-made substances. They oxidize and this is how energy is released. If some substances are not enough, then the cell ceases to perform its functions and soon simply dies, as it does not have enough energy.
