Why is South America the wettest continent on earth?

South America is recognized by scientists as the wettest continent of the planet for two reasons. The first is the continent’s geographic location: most of South America lies in the equatorial, subequatorial, or tropical climatic zones with the most rainfall. Monsoon winds coming from the ocean bring huge amounts of moisture to the continent. The second reason is the Andes, since it is they that block the path of moisture-carrying clouds, and on their slopes all the steam turns into precipitation.
