Why is the biosphere called a global ecosystem?

Living organisms combine with their habitat in ecosystems for the interchange of all kinds of substances and energy.
According to V.I. Vernadsky, the biosphere is the Earth’s shell, which is represented by an organized, natural, self-regulating system. In its composition, a number of bi-level systems are distinguished: the atmosphere, the hydrosphere, and the upper layer of the lithosphere.
Just because the biosphere is self-organized, balanced, biosystems of all layers and living organisms of each ecosystem function mutually beneficial in it, it is called a “global ecosystem”.
