Therefore, in winter, water cools down longer, gives off heat to the environment and is warmer on the ocean coast than in the interior of the mainland. In summer it is the other way around: the water heats up more slowly and you feel cool on the shore.
For this reason, water is used to cool engines, for water heating of premises.
