Why is the completion of mitosis – the division of the cytoplasm occurs differently in animal and plant cells?

In animal cells there is no cell wall, their cell membrane invades inward, and the cell divides by constriction.
In plant cells, a membrane is formed in the equatorial plane inside the cell and, spreading to the periphery, divides the cell in half.
