Why is the down pillow soft?

Bodies capable of changing and maintaining the shape given to them for some time seem to us soft because the area of the pressing surface increases and due to this the pressure on us decreases – the force pressing on a unit area. The pillow presses on our head according to Newton’s third law with the same force as the head presses on the pillow. If you put a stone under your head, then the weight of the head will fall on a small area, increasing the pressure. The pillow takes on the shape of a head, increasing the area of contact, which means less pressure.
