Why is the globe multicolored?

The globe is a model of the Earth. If you look at the Earth from space, you can see that the water is blue, and the deeper the body of water, the darker the color of the water. The land and mountains are respectively brown, the snow caps of the mountains are white. There are generally accepted color designations for land, water, countries and continents. The higher the land above sea level, the darker the brown color. The lower above sea level the water is, the darker the blue.
