Why is the growth of cities increasing in modern times despite epidemics, hunger and wars?

In Europe, the land belonged to the feudal lords, and it was passed on by inheritance. The life of the peasants became more and more difficult – it was forbidden to hunt in the forests, taxes were raised. If the tax was not paid, the family was kicked out and their houses burned. The peasants were tenants on the land of the rich, and if there was a crop failure, then the rent still had to be paid. In the event of war, the peasants were killed first, as they were not protected. Therefore, the poor went to live in cities, despite their pollution and frequent epidemics. Because in the city one could find at least some kind of job and feed a family.
