Why is the intestinal cavity called intestinal?

The cavity of the coelenterates is called intestinal because of the features of digestion, similar to digestion in the duodenum: enzymes of the pancreas and bile are secreted into the intestine and food is broken down. A similar mechanism is in coelenterates: food enters the intestinal cavity, and the glandular cells that make up the endoderm secrete a special secret, with the help of which the food breaks down into separate pieces.
